THE NOIDA Authority has decided to refund the application money to applicants for allotment of prime plots in NOIDA, according to Tanvar Zafar Ali, deputy CEO of Noida Authority.
‘‘We have decided to refund the money as the draw of lots is now subjudice, and will be decided by the Supreme Court. Since we don’t know when the draws will be held, we have decided to return the money,’’ said Zafar Ali.
He said the refund would be credited to the respective applicant’s bank account and the procedure had started last Monday.
The draw of lots has been plagued by scandal ever since it was first announced. After being cancelled twice, at the eleventh hour, the third and final computerised draw of lots was rocked by revelations that senior government officials, politicians and even policemen were ‘lucky’ to bag allotments of land-some of them, more than once.
