Property prices in Noida, the satellite city of the National Capital, have skyrocketed about 200 times in the last two decades, reveals an RTI reply.
According to the reply, residential plots in all the sectors of Noida, which were available at a price of Rs 175 per metre in 1980, have now spiralled to Rs 39,600 mark per square metre in some sectors of the satellite township.
The highest surge of Rs 39,600 per square meter in the prices of residential lands has come in sectors 14, 14A, 15A, 17 and 44, the reply said.

Noida : In an auction that is likely to have a bearing on the real estate prices in Noida, five properties in the area were sold for four times their reserve price yesterday. The auction, conducted by the Income Tax Department, included three industrial and two residential properties. Together they fetched Rs 14.39 crore, against their reserve price of Rs 4.37 crore. In addition to the auction price, bidders will have to pay an eight per cent stamp duty and an annual lease rent varying from 1 to 2.5 per cent. Cong to launch stir in UP against ’random’ land acquisition
The Congress will launch a statewide agitation in Uttar Pradesh to protest against what it calls the random acquisition of farmers land by the Mayawati government. We will be launching a major agitation against land being acquired by the state government from farmers. In some cases the acquisition has been done randomly. In return for their land, farmers are being paid paltry sums as compensation, while the government is selling that land at exorbitant prices, state Congress chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi said here on Monday.
