Noida IS well on its way to become a city of high-rises like Gurgaon. This township, too, lacks facilities to deal with fire accidents. Most of the fire-fighting systems installed in institutional, commercial and residential areas are either inoperative, or poorly maintained.
Noida Malls, hospitals, and multi-storeyed residential complexes have poor fire safety and smoke extraction measures. Most do not even have trained staff to operate fire extinguishers, fire officials say.
Fire Officer Abhay Bhan Pandey told Hindustan Times, Noida has been declared a no height freeze zone and in the near future, high-rises of 100 to 150 meters will be built. But the Noida Fire Department lacks facilities for coping with fires in high-rises. We just have an 11-metre hydraulic ladder, which is insufficient to cope with fires even in 30 to 35-meter buildings.

Indias forgotten 9/11: In 1803, Delhi fell to British forces
As the morning sun slowly lights up the sprawling green glades of Noida Golf Course and golfers prepare to tee off, not many are aware that 203 years ago, on September 11, two armies faced each other on the same putting grounds. The Maratha Army, led by General Bourquin, faced the British might, led by General Gerard Lake. It was only one battle in the Second Anglo Maratha War. But it decided the fate of Delhi. The Marathas lost both —the battle and the war. All that remains of that day —September 11,1803—is a commemorative monument, built by the British in
Noida Authority may revamp skyscraper plan
The new dispensation at the Noida Authority is re-examining plans for building a 710-metre-high skyscraper in Noida. The UP government too is not favourably disposed towards the project ‘‘in its current form’’ and with the manner in which the former CEO of the Noida Authority, Devdutt, rushed to the media with the plans for building the world’s tallest tower in the city, say sources. Some senior UP government officials also question the feasibility of the project. While clearly spelling out that the Noida Authority was well within its powers to okay any project, Industrial Development Commissioner (IDC), Atul Gupta,
