Two sites short-listed in NCR for F1: Kalmadi

Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has moved one step forward in bringing the Formula One race to the country by bagging two draft contracts from the International Automobile Federation (FIA).

IOA president Suresh Kalmadi today announced that he had got the race promotion contract and the circuit right agreement besides a breather to finalise the formalities over the earlier deadline of September 30.

I recently met FIA chief Bernie Ecclestone in London, and he handed over the two draft contracts. He said chief architect of the Formula One circuit Hermann Tilke, who recently surveyed sites in India, has given a good report, Kalmadi said at a press conference here today.

At least 50 charred to death, over 100 injured in Meerut fire

At least 50 people were charred to death and more than 100 injured, some of them seriously, in a devastating fire that ravaged a consumer goods fair here this evening. MUMBAI: Preparing a new road for other Indian infrastructure companies to raise funds abroad, Noida Toll Bridge Co Ltd (NTBCL) - a toll road promoted by IL&FS - has successfully listed itself on Alternate Investment Market (AIM), a 100% subsidiary of the London Stock Exchange. With this, NTBCL has become the first toll road company in the world to be listed on the bourse.
